Who should apply?
Centers eligible to apply for a Child Care Rebuild Grant MUST meet all of the following criteria:
Do you own the property that you plan to rebuild and have property insurance?

Do you own a previously licensed Class A center that is closed? -- OR --
Are you planning to open a new Class A center?
-- OR --
Do you own a Class A center that is open but still has hurricane damage
-- OR --
Do you own a Class A child care center that you would like to expand? -
Is your center located in Orleans, Jefferson, Tangipahoa, St. Bernard, St. Tammany or Plaquemines Parish? AND will your child care center accept Child Care Assistance Payments?

Do you have funds available to contribute to the construction costs? (Typical contributions are between 25% and 50% of the construction cost, but is considered on a case basis)
If you answered YES to all of the above questions,
then you are eligible to apply for a Child Care Rebuild Grant!
How to Apply
1. Submit Letter of Inquiry.

- Fill out the LOI online (Coming soon!)
2. Centers whose Letter of Inquiry shows that they meet all the criteria for receiving a grant will be invited to submit a full application.
3. Those invited to submit a full application will receive an emailed invitation to apply, along with electronic copies of the necessary documents.
Application Deadline
- The next LOI deadline is February 1, 2011 at 4 p.m.
How the grant works
- The exact value of each grant will depend on how much money each center needs for construction and on the amount of resources a center owner already has available (for example, cash-on-hand, insurance settlements and SBA loans). However, no grant will exceed $250,000 in value.
- Selected child care centers will not receive payments directly. The Greater New Orleans Rebuild Child Care Collaborative will hire and pay a licensed and bonded contractor to completely repair, renovate, rebuild or build the facility. Note that this grant covers construction of the physical building only; it does not provide funding for furnishings or equipment.
- Child care providers selected to receive GNORCCC funds will agree to work with a specified contractor(s) designated by GNORCCC , to cooperate with customized technical assistance, and to achieve a three-star rating in the Louisiana Quality Start Program. The Greater New Orleans Rebuild Child Care Collaborative has put together a list of suggested resources and web sites for child care centers.
